Arrive in Chicago
Upon arrival make your way to your hotel either by train or taxi and spend the rest of the day exploring the city. Sightseeing in Chicago is a joy with numerous possibilities, including admiring the best of the architecture with a cruise on the Chicago River or enjoying spectacular views from the Skydeck Chicago at Willis Tower or the 360 degree Chicago Experience on top of the former John Hancock Tower. You could also spend some time in Millennium and Grant Parks, or visit Navy Pier at Lake Michigan. No visit to the city is complete without spending some time on the Magnificent Mile with its many shops.
Amtrak to Memphis
It’s time to say farewell to Chicago as you board your overnight train bound for Memphis. Why not treat yourself and upgrade to a Roomette or Bedroom to enhance your journey?
Memphis
Arrive in Memphis, home of the blues and the famous musical mecca - Beale Street. Whilst here, you can visit Graceland, Elvis Presley’s beloved mansion, and see his two private jets and many cars at the Automobile Museum. We also recommend taking a tour of Sun Studio, dubbed the “birthplace of rock ’n’ roll”, and enjoying an afternoon tea in the Peabody Hotel where you can witness the famed March of the Peabody Ducks. In the evenings, eat at one of the many superb restaurants before soaking up the atmosphere in one of the live music clubs on Beale Street. Dining at BB King’s bar and enjoying some fabulous live music is highly recommended.
New Orleans
Today will be your final journey onboard the Amtrak with their service from Memphis to New Orleans. ‘The Big Easy’ is famous for being the birthplace of jazz and for its charming French Quarter, where the architecture reflects the influence of both the French and Spanish. Walk through the narrow streets of the historic district and the Garden District. You can also visit the antique shops, experience Cajun and Creole cooking at its best, visit the World War II Museum and spend some time at one of the many clubs on Frenchmen Street. A must-do is a lunch or dinner Steamboat Cruise on the mighty Mississippi River.
Homeward Bound
Your vacation is coming to an end and it is time to depart from New Orleans for your homebound flight.
