Take in this magical and unforgettable road and rail journey starting in the one and only Las Vegas famous for its ‘Strip’ and mega-themed hotels, before picking up your car to drive along the scenic roads and byways of Utah. Visit four of Utah’s Mighty Five National Parks – Zion, Bryce, Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, the iconic sight of Monument Valley and finish your road trip in Moab. The grand finale of your trip is on board the Canyon Spirit train where you can sit back and relax on your two-day rail journey, enjoying incredible cuisine, service and unforgettable red rock scenery.

Your day-to-day plan
Day 1-3
Arrive Las Vegas
Board your flight to Las Vegas and on arrival make your way to your hotel. Spend the next three nights in the entertainment capital of the world. Take in award-winning shows, the lively nightlife scene and dine at world-class restaurants. Explore the mega-themed hotels on ‘The Strip’ offering a Las Vegas take on ancient Egypt, Paris, New York, Venice and so much more. Visit old Las Vegas and lively Freemont Street and its dazzling light shows and free nightly concerts.
Day 4-5
Las Vegas to Springdale, 159 miles
Pick up your car today for the drive to Utah and Springdale, which stands close to the gates of Zion National Park. Zion boasts breath-taking canyons and monolithic cliffs that offer some of the most scenic canyon beauty in the United States. Located within the parks 232 square miles are high plateaus, deep sandstone canyons, and the Virgin River. Zion also has pine and juniper-clad slopes, and waterfalls which support lush hanging gardens. Spend the next two days exploring the park and its multiple hiking trails, or hire an e-bike and cycle along the bike trails which are one of the best ways to see the park.
Day 6-7
Springdale to Kanab, 161 miles
The following day drive to Bryce Canyon National Park to see its striking rock hoodoos and amazing desert landscapes. From the Bryce Amphitheatre to spectacular vistas and from stunning Sunrise Point to Sunset Point linked by the Rim Trail, there is no shortage of things to see and do. Whilst in Kanab soak up the atmosphere of this classic western town, which has a sprinkle of Hollywood glamour and an eclectic dining scene. For more adventure take the short drive north to Peek-A-Boo Canyon, one of the most beautiful slot canyons in the world and take an ATV tour through the vibrant pink sand and dramatic red sandstone.
Day 8
Kanab to Bluff, 262 miles
Next stop is Lake Powell, one of the most visited lakes in the USA filled with canyons, bays, and sandy coves. Stop for photos at the jaw-dropping sights of Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon. Continue to breath-taking Monument Valley, a Navajo Tribal Park covering 30,000 acres of flamboyantly carved buttes, jagged pinnacles and gigantic sandstone monoliths which have been the distinctive backdrop to many Hollywood movies including Forrest Gump and Back to the Future III. Enjoy a jeep tour of Monument Valley’s gigantic sandstone masterpieces before you leave for the western town of Bluff where you will overnight.
Day 9-10
Bluff to Moab, 174 miles
The last day of your drive leads you to the stunning national parks of Arches and Canyonlands. Arches National Park, is famous for the natural sandstone wonder of Delicate Arch whilst Canyonlands National Park is known for its dramatic desert landscape carved by the Colorado River. Visit Island in the Sky, a huge, flat-topped mesa with panoramic viewpoints. Make sure to stop at Dead Horse State Park, close to Canyonlands where the last scene of the film Thelma and Louise, was shot, the famous moment when they drive their car off the edge of the cliff. Stay two nights in the ‘adventure capital’ of Utah – Moab. Enjoy activities including river rafting, zip-lining, horse riding and biking adventures.
Day 11
Moab to Glenwood Springs onboard Canyon Spirit
Depart Moab in the afternoon and travel onboard Rocky Mountaineer. You'll cross the Utah-Colorado border with stunning mountain views in the background before arriving in the resort town of Glenwood Springs. Enjoy a delicious locally- inspired dinner onboard as well as a selection of included snacks and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Overnight in the delightful mountain town of Glenwood Springs.
Day 12-13
Glenwood Springs to Denver onboard Canyon Spirit
Depart Glenwood Springs and travel onboard Canyon Spirit, where you’ll savour breakfast and lunch. Enjoy sweeping views of rugged canyons and the Colorado River as you cross the Continental Divide. Soon, you’ll arrive in the vibrant city of Denver where you'll enjoy a two-night stay. The next day explore the ‘Mile High City’ of Denver on foot, visiting McGregor Square, 16th Street Mall, Larimer Square, and the Colorado State Building. If you have time take a trip out to Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, a stunning concert venue carved out of red rock and home to the Colorado Music Hall of Fame.
Day 14
Homeward Bound
Enjoy some last-minute sightseeing or shopping before taking a taxi or the train from Union Station back to Denver airport to catch your flight home.
