Day 1-3
Arrival in Scottsdale
Fly into Phoenix airport, collect your car and drive to the desert oasis of Scottsdale, which is approximately a 20-minute drive away. You can choose to be as busy as you want in Scottsdale whether that is exploring the desert landscape on a hike, bike or on a sunrise hot air balloon ride. Explore charming Old Town Scottsdale and its unique shops, art galleries, lively nightlife scene and diverse restaurants. Relax in Scottsdale’s many world-class spas and championship golf courses, shop until you drop at the over 220 stores at the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall or just sit poolside catching the warm Arizona sun.
Day 4-5
Scottsdale to Tucson, 113 miles
Continue your journey in Arizona to Tucson, a modern city with a picture postcard backdrop of rolling mountains, the Sonoran Desert and a spectacular national park. Drive out to Saguaro National Park and enjoy a hike and learn about the geology and vegetation of the park at the Visitors Centre. For airline geeks visit the over 400 military and commercial aircrafts lined up in rows at the Pima Air and Space Museum where you can see aircrafts from a Wright Flyer to a 787 Dreamliner. Learn about Tucson’s history and geology at the Arizona-Sonora State Museum with attractions including a history museum, botanical gardens, art galleries and a zoo. Tucson is a UNESCO City of Gastronomy with some wonderful restaurants that serve tasty cuisine made from local ingredients with Spanish, Mexican and Native American influences.
Day 6-9
Tucson to Tanque Verde Ranch, 15 miles
Enjoy the next four nights in the gorgeous surroundings of Tanque Verde Ranch set in the Rincon Mountains. The ranch has a jam-packed activity schedule, with plenty to choose from including fishing, hiking, mountain biking and desert jeep adventures. The ranch offers a wide choice of horse riding for all abilities including sunrise, sunset, lope and walk rides and activities where you can learn horsemanship and cowboy skills. After a day of activity, you can relax in the ranch’s swimming pool and spa and meet for a drink with your fellow guests in the saloon bar.
Day 10
Homeward Bound
Enjoy your last day in Arizona, perhaps taking some time to visit Phoenix and the interesting Desert Botanical Gardens or enjoying some retail therapy at the Phoenix Premium Outlets before driving to the airport to drop off your car and board your flight back to the UK.
