Arrive in Nashville
Welcome to the ‘Capital of Country Music’, your home for the next three nights, where you can enjoy delicious southern cuisine, listen to county music in the lively honky-tonk bars and immerse yourself in the world-class music attractions. Highlights include iconic RCA Studio B, once the recording home of legendary artists such as Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton, and the Country Music Hall of Fame, an expansive museum showcasing the history and artefacts of top country music artists. Visit the country music shrine Ryman Auditorium, the former home of the Grand Ole Opry and book tickets to see a concert at the impressive new home of the Grand Ole Opry.
Nashville to Memphis, 212 miles
Collect your car in downtown Nashville and head south to Memphis to experience a change of music genre. Memphis is renowned as the home of the blues and the birthplace of rock and roll and exudes legendary musical history and, as you would expect, has a wealth of things to see and do. Don’t miss a visit to Sun Studio, the birthplace of Rock n Roll! You can also enjoy afternoon tea at The Peabody Memphis and experience the splendid March of the Peabody Ducks. A particular highlight is the Elvis' former home Graceland.
Memphis to Clarksdale, 76 miles
Drive to Clarksdale, Mississippi today, and if you haven’t had enough of your Elvis fix, you can take a detour to visit Tupelo where he was born and spent his early life. Unique and authentic Clarksdale is home to the famous ‘Crossroads’ where the legendary blues musician Robert Johnson supposedly sold his soul to the devil. The city also has a thriving live music scene, with plenty of authentic blues clubs including the popular Ground Zero Blues Club owned by actor Morgan Freeman. Make sure to visit the Delta Blues Museum, that tells the story of how ‘the blues’ became such a popular sound in the world of music.
Clarksdale to Jackson, 166 miles
An exciting day awaits as you drive south visiting Dockery Farm, recognised as the ‘birthplace of the blues’ were artists such as Charley Patton, Willie Brown and Howlin’ Wolf created the distinct ‘blues’ sound. Continue to Indianola and the B.B King Museum and Delta Interpretive Centre, dedicated to the Delta Blues and the life of legendary artist B.B King. Discover the wealth of civil rights history in Jackson the following day, including the State-Wide Mississippi Freedom Trail that runs through the city which encompasses several historic and significant events in the civil rights movement. Attractions include the Medgar Evers Home Museum and the landmark Mississippi State Capitol Building.
Jackson to Natchez, 103 miles
A short drive this morning will take you to Natchez, the oldest permanent settlement on the Mississippi River. Oozing true southern charm, you can visit many of the grand antebellum homes, take a horse and carriage ride around the historic downtown area or spend an evening in one of the juke joints.
Natchez to New Orleans, 171 miles
Your final destination is New Orleans, a melting pot of French, African, Caribbean and Spanish cultures, where jazz music can always be heard and delicious Creole cuisine is on offer. After dropping your car off, stroll around the different historic districts, have a drink at the famous Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone, head to lively Jackson Square and Bourbon Steet or join a lunch or dinner cruise on an authentic paddle wheeler that cruises along the mighty Mississippi River.
Homeward Bound
After a relaxing final morning, it is time for the short journey to the airport for your homebound flight.
