To make the most of your time in Nashville we’ve included a visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame and the iconic RCA Studio B, now a historic landmark, this was once the recording home of legendary artists including Elvis Presley and the Everly Brothers. Visit the country music shrine Ryman auditorium, the former home of the world-famous Grand Old Opry and book tickets to the current Grand Ole Opry to watch a concert.
Nashville to Memphis, 212 miles
Experience a change of music genre as we head south to Memphis, Elvis’ beloved hometown and listen to every type of music, from soul, the blues and rock ‘n’ roll. For Elvis fans, we’ve included a visit to Graceland to see his house, complete with the famous Jungle Room, his collection of cars, memorabilia, and music awards. The music continues at Sun Studios, ‘The birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ where music legends such as Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison recorded songs. For a change of music genre visit the Stax Museum of American Soul Music. In the evening head to Beale Street, the heart of Memphis’s entertainment district which is lined with bars, nightclubs, live entertainment, and restaurants.
Memphis to Muscle Shoals, 200 miles
Learn more about Elvis’ life today as we travel to Tupelo, Mississippi where he was born and spent his early life. Visit his modest childhood home, the family church, and the Tupelo Hardware Store where his mum bought him his first guitar. Continue to ‘The Shoals’, the four musical quad cities of Florence, Tuscumbia, Sheffield, and Muscle Shoals that sit in the north-west corner of Alabama. The Shoals area music studios figure prominently in the history of rock ‘n roll and R&B including the Fame Recording Studio which put artists including Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding on the map, as well as the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio where the Rolling Stones and Tina Turner recorded hit songs.
