Arrive in Seattle
Two days to explore a city known for popular culture, whether music, high street brands or city fame. You can enjoy panoramic views from the viewing platform of the Space Needle, visit Pike Place market for food and waterfront views. You can also head to Chihuly Gardens and Glass, showing the city’s outdoors of bright colours and beautiful blooms, and canoe or walk around the stunning scenery at the Washington Park Arboretum.
Holland America Line
Depart Seattle in the afternoon and revel in the excitement as you board your cruise ship bound for Alaska. Pass the shoreline of mainland British Columbia and Vancouver Island on your journey towards this iconic destination and the wonderful ports of call.

With Holland America’s Explorations Central program, you can immerse yourself in the destination by joining one of the dynamic and informative talks on subjects that include the history of the region, and Alaska’s iconic whales.
Stephens Passage & Juneau
Today is spent cruising Stephens Passage as you head towards your first port of call in Alaska - Juneau. A trip on the Mount Roberts Tramway is highly recommended. There are several trails at the top of the mountain with spectacular views of the harbour below.
Glacier Bay & Icy Strait Point
Simply jaw-dropping! With jagged mountains, rainforests and fjords, Glacier Bay is a highlight of your Alaska Cruise. Home to numerous wildlife species and exceptionally beautiful scenery, you will spend time cruising through the bay, with time to admire the views and spot wildlife along the way, before heading to Icy Strait Point.
Sitka
Today you will spend time in Sitka, and there are many onshore excursions that you can pre-book. One of the popular attractions is the Sitka Raptor Centre, where you can see how they protect and preserve birds of prey by rehabilitating and returning injured birds from across Alaska including eagles, hawks, falcons and owls.
Ketchikan
With a strong Native Alaskan culture and fishing industry, Ketchikan is well worth a visit. The scenery of Alaska in the Tongass National Forest and the Misty Fjords National Monument make this area a fantastic place to visit and explore.
Victoria
This evening your port of call is Victoria, the beautiful Provincial Capital of British Columbia. Spend some time walking down the harbourfront area and enjoy the Canadian hospitality, before embarking for your final journey to Seattle.
Seattle to Portland, 174 miles
At the end of your cruise, you’ll collect your rental car and drive from Seattle to Portland. With many craft breweries, food carts, restaurants and cafes, there is no shortage of local food and drink to savour in the city. Why not take in the horticultural wonders of the International Test Rose Garden and visit the Portland Art Gallery?
Portland to Newport, 123 miles
Head to the dramatic Oregon Coast to experience the ruggedness and charm that the area has to offer. Be sure to stop at Devils Punchbowl State Area, which provides outstanding panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. Visit the Fisherman’s Memorial Sanctuary at Yaquina Bay State Park and enjoy Newport’s historic bayfront.
Newport to Crater Lake National Park, 254 miles
Today you continue your journey south to Crater Lake National Park. Head for Rim Drive at Merriam Point where you take the most scenic drive passing through Mount Scott, Plaikni Falls and Vidae Falls. There is ample opportunity for taking some memorable photographs or videos before arriving at the Historic Crater Lake Lodge for the evening.
Crater Lake National Park to Redding, 201 miles
Leaving Oregon means welcome to California! Your journey will take you part way on the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway, taking you through dense, mountainous forests, across broad wetlands and along clear streams. The Cascade volcanoes are the star attraction and the stand out star is Mount Shasta, at 14,179-foot above sea level. You can explore from Redding together with Lassen Volcanic National Park.
Redding to Sacramento, 159 miles
After your time in Redding, your journey continues to the State Capital, Sacramento. California’s Capital is great value for visitors with lots to do. Free tours of the California State Capitol building or sightseeing in historic Old Sacramento are well worth it. You will be sure to find some amazing cafes, restaurants and bars.
Sacramento to Napa, 60 miles
Welcome to Napa Valley, home to over 400 wineries, many of which offer tasting rooms to sample wines that will fit all tastes and budgets. Napa is world-famous for its wines and there is so much more to accompany your wine visits. With a temperate climate, you can enjoy walking and hiking tours or take a mud and mineral spring bath in one of Calistoga’s spas. Explore the scenery of Napa by booking a hot air balloon ride and enjoy the arts and culture on offer in the region.
Napa to San Francisco, 48 miles
Now it’s time to drop your car off upon arrival into San Francisco and enjoy the city. This beautiful city is a joy to walk through and explore. Cross Golden Gate Bridge and take in views of the city. At Fisherman’s Wharf meet the Sea Lions that call Pier 39 their home. Take a ferry over to Alcatraz Island and the experience the self-guided audio tour, or take a tour of the city including the 8-hairpin bends of Lombard Street. There is something for everyone in this most fascinating of cities.
Homeward Bound
Spend your final day in San Francisco filling up the morning with your final round of sights. After lunch, head to the airport for your flight home.
