Day 1-3
Arrive in Tampa
Fly to the west coast of Florida and the waterfront city of Tampa, collect your hire car and drive to your hotel. Enjoy the next three nights soaking up the city’s highlights including the historic charm of Ybor City, Tampa’s Latin Quarter known for its unique architecture, Cuban heritage, and lively bars. Stroll along the scenic Riverwalk that connects pretty parks, museums and restaurants in the heart of the city. If you want to explore further, drive out to the nearby stunning and award-winning beaches of St Pete-Clearwater or the thrilling attractions and wildlife at Busch Gardens.
Day 4-5
Tampa to Jacksonville, 205 miles
Drive to the city of Jacksonville located on the north-east coast of Florida for a two-night stay. Take a walk around its interesting neighbourhoods and immerse yourself in the city’s fascinating art galleries and museums. The city’s vibrant downtown is also filled with great shopping, dining, craft breweries and sporting events including baseball, basketball, and hockey. If you like outdoor adventure, then there is no better place than Jacksonville. Relax on its 22 miles of wide white sand beaches and take to the waters on a surfboard or on a deep-sea fishing trip. Hike or cycle in its 10 state and national parks and numerous nature preserves, the city is home to America’s largest urban park system.
Day 6-7
Jacksonville to St Augustine, 43 miles
Just a short drive south will take you to America’s oldest city, St Augustine which is overflowing with charm, beauty, and rich Spanish culture. Founded in 1565, St Augustine is the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement in the USA and offers a fascinating glimpse into America's past. Visit the impressive Castillo de San Marcos, stroll through cobbled streets, and discover centuries-old architecture and historic buildings. The city has an excellent dining scene served in historic taverns, cafes and waterfront restaurants. Cool off at city’s white sand beaches that are excellent for swimming and surfing and stay for the spectacular sunsets.
Day 8-10
St Augustine to Cocoa Beach 129 miles
Continue to drive along Florida’s east coast to Cocoa Beach, renowned for its surfing culture, laid back vibe and fantastic beaches. Before you relax beachside, make the short 30-minute drive to learn about space exploration at Kennedy Space Centre. We recommend a full day to explore and learn about the Space Centre which is the launch pad of space flights where you can experience immersive simulator experiences, meet astronauts and learn about the technology behind missions to Mars and the Moon. Back at Cocoa Beach, enjoy your last few days soaking up the Florida sun, learning how to surf and enjoying oceanfront dining.
Day 11
Homeward bound
Head to Orlando Airport today, perhaps stopping off at the many outlet shopping malls, or extend your stay to soak up all the thrills and magic at the abundance of theme parks in Orlando. Drop off your car and catch your return flight back to the UK.
