Arrive in New Orleans
Fly into New Orleans, lovingly called ‘The Big Easy’ for a one-night stay, overnighting near the airport in preparation for your captivating journey through the warm and friendly state of Louisiana. You will get to experience vibrant New Orleans when you return in a few days’ time.
New Orleans to Darrow, 45 miles
Pick up your car this morning and take the short drive north following the winding Mississippi River along the Great River Road to Plantation Country. Boasting some of the grandest plantation homes in the South, they give visitors a real glimpse into the lives of the rich sugar plantation owners and how they and their slaves lived in the 1800’s. Enter the spectacular Oak Alley Plantation along its beautiful grand driveway lined with 300-year-old oak trees and explore its beautiful gardens and house on a guided tour. Other homes that are a must visit include Laura Plantation with its Creole style buildings and slave quarters and Houmas House Estate and Gardens which is where you will overnight. One of the South's largest plantation homes it's located steps away from the Mississippi River. Eat delicious food in the mansion's fine dining restaurants, walk through the acres of beautiful, manicured gardens filled with tranquil fountains and tour the main house to get a real taste of plantation life in the 1800’s.
Darrow to Baton Rouge, 30 miles
Before setting off for the state capital Baton Rouge, explore the wetlands and wildlife on an airboat ride gliding through the many swamps and lakes of Plantation Country. Filled with fascinating museums, fine art, music and historic sites, Baton Rouge has a vibrant atmosphere with a fantastic array of restaurants and markets serving up tasty Creole, Cajun, and seafood dishes. For fantastic views of the city head to the top of the Louisiana State Capitol, the tallest capitol in the USA.
Baton Rouge to Lafayette, 55 miles
Located in the heart of Cajun Country, charming Lafayette oozes Cajun culture through its music, vibrant festivals, immersive experiences, and mouth-watering cuisine. It’s also near to Lake Martin, a wildlife reserve where you can spot birdlife including Blue Heron as well as alligators, turtles, and lizards. A great way to learn about the Cajun community and their way of life is at the Acadian Village, an authentic living history museum, and Vermilionville a 23-acre Acadian Village with beautifully created period homes, where you can listen to Cajun music, and eat gumbo and crawfish.
Lafayette to New Orleans, 169 miles
Head back to the ‘The Big Easy’ today via southern Louisiana and the town of New Iberia to learn more about plantation life, before visiting the world-famous Tabasco Sauce Factory on Avery Island. Drop off your car in downtown New Orleans and spend the next three nights soaking up the electrifying and sultry cultures and sounds of colourful New Orleans. Stroll around the different historic districts, have a cocktail at the famous Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone, head to lively Jackson Square and Bourbon Steet or join a lunch or dinner cruise on an authentic paddle wheeler that cruises along the mighty Mississippi River.

Your first stop is the turquoise waters of Costa Maya on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. With white sand beaches and coral reefs, you can choose to relax on its beautiful beaches or book a shore excursion to the nearby Mayan ruins at Chacchoben or swim with the dolphins.
Harvest Caye, Belize
Today’s port of call is Harvest Caye in beautiful Belize, a country that is a driving force for eco-tourism and boasts a diverse landscape including jungles, rainforests, coral reefs, and swamps. Adventure is everywhere and you can join in one of the many optional shore excursions including ziplining, visiting a mangrove estuary and snorkelling in barrier reefs.
Roatan (Bay Islands), Honduras
Sail east to Roatan Island, a tropical paradise just off the coast of Honduras which is home to the world’s second largest barrier reef. Enjoy some of the best snorkelling and diving in the world, relax on the white sand beaches or take a wildlife tour in search of monkeys, macaws, and sloths.
Cozumel, Mexico
The last stop on your Caribbean cruise is the island of Cozumel in Mexico. Surrounded by picturesque white sands, turquoise waters, and the world’s second largest coral reef in Arrecifes de Cozumel National Park. Marine life including sharks, turtles and starfish can often be spotted during the winter months.
