Day 1-3
Arrive in Las Vegas
Fly into the ‘Entertainment Capital of the World’ Las Vegas for three nights of jam-packed fun. Walk up and down the famous Strip, exploring the gigantic and flamboyant hotels that are attractions in themselves. See the dancing fountains at the Bellagio, take a romantic gondola ride inside the Venetian hotel and dine in its take on St Mark’s Square, Venice. Enjoy world-class shows and concerts, shop until you drop in the outlet malls and high-end shopping centres and head to the bright lights of the original Las Vegas - Freemont Street where you can enjoy zip-line adventures and epic light shows.
Day 4-5
Las Vegas to Zion National Park, 169 miles
Collect your motorhome before hitting the open road as you embark on a journey through some of the most amazing landscapes you will ever experience. On arrival at Zion National Park, head to your campground and then jump on the free national park shuttles that go in to the park or for a more memorable experience hire a bike and cycle to the various stop off points including the Visitors Centre, Zion Lodge and Weeping Rock. Make some time to walk some of the breath-taking walking trails to soak up the park’s dramatic canyon, sandstone cliffs and waterfalls.
Day 6
Zion National Park to Bryce Canyon National Park, 84 miles
Depart for Bryce Canyon National Park, a sprawling reserve in Utah famed for its red and orange coloured ‘hoodoos’ - spire-shaped rock formations. The park’s main road leads past the most famous point of the canyon, Bryce Amphitheatre, a hoodoo-filled basin lying below the Rim Trail hiking path. For different viewpoints and magnificent views of the amphitheatre hike the Rim Trail from Sunrise to Sunset Point, you won’t be disappointed.
Day 7
Bryce Canyon National Park to Capital Reef National Park, 113 miles
A memorable day lies head today as we drive to our next Mighty Five National Park, Capitol Reef travelling along Scenic Byway 12, one of the most scenic byways in America. We recommend you allow a full day to drive to Capitol Reef taking in the unbelievable scenic overlooks, state parks, national monuments, and award-winning restaurants. Stay overnight inside of the park after exploring its landscaped filled with colourful sandstone cliffs, monoliths, lush riverbanks, and the even fruit orchards!
Day 8-10
Capital Reef National Park to Moab, 136 miles
Drive west today stopping off at Goblin Valley State Park, a unique valley filled with colourful and unique sandstone goblins, arches, and hoodoos. Continue to Moab the gateway to two Mighty Five national parks Arches and Canyonlands. Begin with a visit to Arches which is home to over 2,000 natural sandstone arches such as Delicate Arch, a great place to visit on a hike at sunrise or sunset. Canyonlands, Utah’s largest national park sits by the Colorado River with a landscape dotted with canyons, mesas, and buttes. Make sure to visit Dead Horse State Park, which has fabulous views over the Colorado River and was the actual filming location of the last scene of the film, Thelma and Louise, where the car drives off the edge of the cliff. Moab is known as the ‘adventure capital of Utah’ with lots of activities available including canyoneering, river rafting and off-road vehicle adventures.
Day 11
Moab to Monument Valley, 185 miles
Today head south to Monument Valley taking a slight detour to Natural Bridges Monument, home to the second largest bridge in the USA. Continue to Goosenecks State Park and get a photo overlooking the deep meander of the San Juan River, before arriving in Monument Valley, one of the most photographed attractions in the USA. The scenery at Monument Valley must be seen to be believed! Take a tour of this Navajo Tribal Park, either by jeep or horseback getting up close to the towering buttes and mesas that were the backdrop to many famous western movies.
Day 12
Monument Valley to Lake Powell, 133 miles
For a truly memorable experience head out on sunrise tour of Monument Valley’s gigantic sandstone masterpieces before you leave for Lake Powell travelling west through the desert landscape. Lake Powell is one of the most visited lakes in the USA and if you have time, take a boat tour on the lake to Rainbow Bridge, one of America’s largest natural bridges. Stay overnight near the lake, perhaps venturing in to the nearby town of Page for dinner.
Day 13-14
Lake Powell to Grand Canyon National Park, 143 miles
Today the South Rim of the Majestic Grand Canyon awaits. From the Grand Canyon Railway depot to the numerous sightseeing views and hikes, you will be constantly amazed. Take a walk on the Bright Angel or the Rim Trail, visit the Grand Canyon IMAX Theatre or take a helicopter flight over the canyon from Grand Canyon Village.
Day 15
Grand Canyon to Lake Mead, 244 miles
Start your journey back to Las Vegas, staying the night at the man-made, Lake Mead. As the USA's first, and largest, national recreation area, there is plenty to do in the 1.5 million acres of valleys, mountains, and, of course, the two lakes. On the lakes themselves, you can do everything from scuba diving to kayaking to fishing to lake cruises. If water isn't your thing, there are a vast array of trails for hikers and bikers, rock climbing in the backcountry, and endless photography opportunities. Drive out to nearby Hoover Dam which draws over a million visitors each year to see its impressive arch and learn its inspiring history. While visiting the dam, you can take tours of the powerplant, enjoy the panoramic views from the observation decks, and even take a non-powered watercraft out onto the Colorado River.
Day 16
Lake Mead to Las Vegas, 32 miles
A short 30 minute drive or so will bring you back to Las Vegas. Drop off your motorhome and then get a taxi to your hotel. Spend the last evening of your holiday enjoying the many delights of Las Vegas.
Day 17
Homeward Bound
Enjoy your last day soaking up the Nevada sun before making your own way back to Las Vegas airport to board your flight back to the UK.
