Arrive in Boston
On arrival in Boston, make your way to your hotel, your base for the next three nights. One of America’s most loved cities, Boston is compact and very walkable and offers interesting history. Look back at America’s history by walking the 2.5-mile-long Freedom Trail that connects 16 significant sites including Old North Church and Faneuil Hall, stroll around the thriving harbour, enjoy a delicious lunch at colourful Quincy Market or head to Boston Common to see its pretty gardens and lake.
Amtrak – Boston to New York City
Travel by Amtrak train on an approximately 4-hour journey to New York City - the ‘Big Apple’ your home for the next three nights. Bursting with some of the world’s most iconic attractions including the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Central Park and the buzzy and bright billboards in Times Square, there is so much to experience. Head down to the southern tip of Manhattan and walk over beautiful Brooklyn Bridge, stroll around the diverse neighbourhoods including Greenwich Village or West Village where many US television shows including ‘Friends’ were filmed.
Amtrak - New York City to Washington DC
Board your Amtrak train service at New York Penn Station for the 3 ½ journey to the nation’s capital Washington DC. Travel around the city on the efficient metro network or on a bus tour, bike or even on an electric scooter taking in the famous monuments of the White House, Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials and the Washington Monument. Not to be missed are the city’s amazing collection of museums many of which offer complimentary admission including the National Air and Space Museum or the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
Homeward bound
Enjoy your last day in DC, perhaps exploring the cool Georgetown district, before heading to Washington Dulles airport by taxi or the metro to board your flight back to the UK.
