Day 1-3
Arrive in Toronto
On arrival in Toronto Pearson International Airport, join the included transfer to your hotel. You have two full days to explore the city’s many attractions and diverse neighbourhoods. Your first stop should be the CN Tower which dominates the skyline and is Toronto’s tallest building. Take in the incredible views from the observation deck or enjoy fine Canadian cuisine at the 360 Restaurant. Walk along the shores of Lake Ontario or take a cruise to the Toronto Islands. On dry land stroll around the different neighbourhoods including the ‘Theatre District’, Little Italy, the Distillery District and foodie heaven in St Lawrence Market.
Day 4-5
Toronto to Niagara Falls
Join your included transfer through the Niagara Peninsula to the awe-inspiring beauty of Niagara Falls, one of the most visited attractions in Canada. Enjoy a cruise to the base of the falls to see its crashing waters and be prepared to get wet or take to the skies on a short helicopter flight over this majestic wonder.
Day 6-8
Amtrak - Niagara Falls to New York City
Join the Amtrak Maple Leaf Service from Niagara Falls that crosses the border to New York City, travelling through the incredible gorges in the Finger Lakes region, New York’s wine country and the beautiful countryside of the Hudson Valley. After your approximately 12-hour train journey enjoy three nights soaking up the jaw-dropping delights that make up one of the world’s most exciting cities. Visit the iconic sights of the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and Central Park. Shop until you drop in the famous stores of Tiffany’s and Bloomingdales or enjoy soaking up the city’s diverse neighbourhoods such as Greenwich Village and West Village where many US television shows including ‘Friends’ were filmed.
Day 9-11
Amtrak – New York City to Washington DC.
Board your Amtrak train this morning for the 3 ½ hour journey to Washington DC, the nation’s capital. This powerful city is home to some of America’s most important sites including the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials, the White House and the United States Capitol Building. The city also has some beautiful and character filled neighbourhoods such as Georgetown and Dupont Circle that are filled with boutique shops and vibrant restaurants and bars. Getting around the capital is easy on the efficient metro system that goes out to the airport and the huge shopping mall at Tysons Corner. Also not to be missed are the world class Smithsonian Museums, many of which offer free admission, choose from the National Air and Space Museum and the National Museum of African American History and Culture plus many more.
Day 12
Homeward Bound
Enjoy your final day in DC before heading to Washington Dulles Airport by taxi or on the metro to board your flight back to the UK.
