Arrive in New York
Welcome to New York, the city that never sleeps, from the bright lights and buzzing wallboards of Times Square to world renowned Broadway and the iconic attractions of the Empire State Building and State of Liberty, New York oozes excitement and magnificent attractions. Stroll around the interesting villages, all of which have a different vibe including Little Italy and Greenwich Village or hire a bike or horse and carriage around pretty Central Park.
New York to Harrisburg
Depart from Penn Street Station, Manhattan by train to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and pick up your hire car and check in to your hotel. Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s state capital is the perfect base to explore many interesting cities and attractions. Visit nearby Hershey, home to the world-famous chocolate. Head to downtown where you can see chocolate themed lanterns and Hershey Park to ride its thrilling roller coaster rides and eat in chocolate inspired restaurants. Drive out to Gettysburg to take a look back at America’s Civil War History by visiting Gettysburg National Military Park and the interesting visitors’ centre. Drive through the battlefield, a very poignant place that tells the story of the war that changed America’s history forever.
Harrisburg to Lancaster, 40 miles
Drive east to the town of Lancaster which is overflowing with old fashion charm and home spun warmth. Home to the Amish Communities, you can book tours to visit Amish farms, churches, and family homes where you can learn about their simple and enriched lives. For some delicious food head to Lancaster’s Central Market.
Lancaster to Philadelphia, 81 miles
Head east to Philadelphia, perhaps stopping for some retail therapy at one of the state’s outlet malls or the King of Prussia Mall, one of the biggest shopping malls in America, Pennsylvania offers tax free shopping so you will be sure to pick up a bargain. On arrival drop off your hire car and explore Philadelphia, famous as ‘America’s birthplace’ offering more history than any other city in the USA. Easy to explore by foot, visit the city’s wealth of attractions including Independence Historic Park where the Declaration of Independence was signed and the Liberty Bell. Take a stroll along the cobblestone streets of Elfreth’s Alley, one of America’s oldest residential streets, run up the famous Rocky Steps and enjoy the delicious sights and smells in Reading Terminal Market, the city’s oldest public market.
Homeward Bound
Travel back to the airport by taxi and board your homebound flight to the UK.
