Starting in the vibrant outdoor city of Denver, you will embark on a two-day rail journey onboard the famous Rocky Mountaineer with an overnight stop in Glenwood Springs and onwards to Moab, the adventure capital of Utah. The journey continues by car visiting four of Utah’s treasured national parks and the jaw-dropping sight of Monument Valley, ending with a stay in world-famous Las Vegas.

Arrive in Denver
Arrive in the ‘Mile High’ city of Denver to spend two nights. Make your way by taxi or take the 30-minute train from the airport into Union Station, located in the heart of Denver. Spend the next day exploring the exciting downtown area of Denver. 16th Street Mall is a pedestrian friendly mile-long mall packed with shops, restaurants and attractions and getting around is easy using the free mall ride bus. If time permits venture out to Red Rocks Amphitheatre to see a concert and take in the magnificent views!
Rocky Mountaineer to Glenwood Springs
Board Rocky Mountaineer this morning and meet your host and enjoy the famous service of Rocky Mountaineer. Cross the Continental Divide as you take in the spectacular views of rugged canyons and the Colorado River before arriving at the resort town of Glenwood Springs where you will overnight.
Rocky Mountaineer to Moab
Rejoin the train and cross the Colorado-Utah border past stunning mountain ranges and as you get closer to Moab, see beautiful red sandstone landscapes. Arrive in Moab ‘the adventure capital of Utah’ mid-afternoon where you will spend three nights.
Moab
Collect your car late morning at Moab Canyonlands airport and spend the next two memorable days exploring the stunning national parks of Arches and Canyonlands. In Arches National Park, view the natural sandstone arches such as Delicate Arch whilst Canyonlands National Park is known for its dramatic desert landscape carved by the Colorado River and Island in the Sky is a huge, flat-topped mesa with panoramic viewpoints. Make sure to visit Dead Horse State Park, close to Canyonlands where the famous last scene of the film Thelma and Louise when the car drove off the edge of the cliff was shot.
Moab to Monument Valley, 185 miles
Today head south to Monument Valley taking a slight detour at Natural Bridges Monument, home to the second largest bridge in the USA. Continue to Goosenecks State Park and get a photo overlooking the deep meander of the San Juan River, before arriving in Monument Valley, one of the most photographed places in the USA. The scenery at Monument Valley must be seen to be believed! Take a tour of this Navajo Tribal Park, either by jeep or horseback getting up close to the towering buttes and mesas that were the backdrop to many famous western movies
Monument Valley to Kanab, 199 miles
A sunrise tour of Monument Valley’s gigantic sandstone masterpieces is highly recommended, before you leave for Kanab travelling west through desert landscape, stopping at Lake Powell, one of the most visited lakes in the USA. The following day drive to Bryce Canyon National Park to see its striking rock hoodoos and amazing desert landscapes. From the Bryce Amphitheatre to spectacular vistas and from stunning Sunrise Point to Sunset Point linked by the Rim Trail, there is no shortage of things to see and do. Whilst in Kanab soak up the atmosphere of this classic western town, which has a sprinkle of Hollywood glamour and an eclectic dining scene.
Kanab to Springdale, 61 miles
A short drive today will lead you to Zion National Park, with its breath-taking canyons and monolithic cliffs that offers some of the most scenic canyon country in the United States. Located within the parks 232 square miles are high plateaus, deep sandstone canyons, and the Virgin River. Zion also has pine and juniper-clad slopes, and waterfalls which support lush hanging gardens. With multiple hiking and climbing opportunities, the park is a haven for outdoor activities. Stay overnight in Springdale, located just outside the park's gates.
Springdale to Las Vegas, 159 miles
Complete your magical rail and fly-drive tour with a grand finale of glittering and spell-binding Las Vegas, a city like no other. Spend your time watching an award-winning show, walking in and out of the mega-themed hotels on ‘The Strip’ that offer a Las Vegas’ take on ancient Egypt, Paris, and New York or relaxing poolside.
Homeward Bound
Drive back to Las Vegas airport and drop off your hire car and board your homebound flight.
